On April 15th, 2019, the scientific metrology training course jointly organized by Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) of Leiden University and Zhejiang University opened at Haining Campus, Zhejiang University. The instructors of the course are Researcher Nees Jan van Eck of Leiden University, the developer of knowledge mapping software VOSviewer, Professor Vincent Lariviere of the University of Montreal, fellow of the Academy of Science of the Royal Society of Canada, Professor Cassidy Sugimoto of Indiana University, chairman of the International Society for Scientometrics and Informetrics, Researcher Vincent Traag of Leiden University, and Professor Ludo Waltman of Leiden University, Editor of the Journal of Informetrics.
This training course lasts for 5 days and covers 5 special topics, with rich content, advanced methods and a great number of prestigious teachers, attracting a total of 40 students from universities and research institutions in Indonesia, the United States, Italy, Venezuela and China.
During the first class,Prof. Cassidy Sugimoto, Prof. Ludo Waltman and Researcher Vincent Traag trained all members in the basic theoretical knowledge of scientometrics. Their explanation was approachable, coping well with quite complicated subjects, which was popular among trainees.
