 Zhejiang University(ZJU) is one of the national key comprehensive universities in China. After 110 years’ growth and development, ZJU has evolved into a top-rank research university of distinguishing features in China and has achieved certain international impact in terms of its solid academic foundation and comprehensive academic strength. It was nominated as one of the first group of key universities of "211 Project," launched by Chinese Government with the aim to facilitate higher-education development. In 1999, it got on board another important education campaign, that is, the "985 Project", launched by the Ministry of Education to select some key universities to enjoy special financial support from the nation, different government departments and local governments. |

In the area of humanities and social sciences, ZJU has a wide coverage of academic disciplines, including seven academic fields, namely philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history and management. There are altogether eight schools, including School of Economics, School of International Studies, School of Humanities, School of Management, School of Media and National Culture, Guanghua Law School, School of Education and School of Public Administration, two research academies, fifty-five research centers and sixty-three research institutes. |

There are 851 staff members working in the fields of humanities and social sciences, among whom 229 are full professors and 325 are associate professors.
