Recruitment for the Post-doctoral Researchers on A Complete Collection of Chinese Paintings in the Past Dynasties Project

A Complete Collection of Paintings of the Song Dynasty, the first large-scale dynastic collection of the Chinese paintings implemented by Zhejiang University and Cultural Heritage Bureau of Zhejiang Province and compiled by Zhejiang University Research Center for Ancient Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy finally came to an end. A Complete Collection of Paintings of the Song Dynasty was highly commended by the experts at home and abroad as it offers clear images and relevant literature background for the studies of scholars. Zhejiang University will then initiate the compilation of A Complete Collection of Chinese Paintings in the Past Dynasties, a collection of the paintings from the Warring States Period to the Tang, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties.

As the project requires, Zhejiang University will recruit the Ph. D graduates in History of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy all over the world to conduct post-doctoral studies on the compilation of A Complete Collection of Chinese Paintings in the Past Dynasties. The post-doctoral researchers recruited will enjoy the equivalent treatment of post-doctoral researchers in Zhejiang University, and the project team will provide necessary research subsidies based on the work. Post-doctoral researchers of the Project will be given first priority in the same situation when the School of Humanities, Research Institute of Cultural Heritage, Museum of Art and Archeology at Zhejiang University recruit new members.

A Brief Introduction to A Complete Collection of Chinese Paintings in the Past Dynasties

A Complete Collection of Paintings of the Song Dynasty, the first large-scale dynastic painting collection in China implemented by Zhejiang University and Cultural Heritage Bureau of Zhejiang Province and compiled by Research Center for Ancient Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, Zhejiang University finally came to an end. A Complete Collection of Paintings of the Song Dynasty was highly commended by the experts at home and abroad as it offers clear images and relevant background information for the studies of scholars. Zhejiang University will initiate the compilation of A Complete Collection of Chinese Paintings in the Past Dynasties, a collection of paintings from the Warring States Period to the Tang, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties.

A Complete Collection of Chinese Paintings in the Past Dynasties will cover different sections: the Warring States Period to the Tang, the Tang Dynasty, the Yuan Dynasty, the Ming Dynasty, the Qing Dynasty. The number of collection organizations will increase from 103 in the compilation of A Complete Collection of Paintings of the Song Dynasty to over 200, including the organizations in Europe, America, Japan, Southeast Asia, Mainland China and Taiwan. Approximately 600 painters with 8500-odd paintings (900 paintings of the Song Dynasty are inclusive) will be covered in the collection.

A Complete Collection of Chinese Paintings in the Past Dynasties is a large-scale, high quality work aimed at collecting and sorting out the academic achievements of ancient Chinese paintings and traditional Chinese culture and fulfilling noticeable academic values.

The work, the collection of image materials in particular, is currently supported by the collection organizations at home and abroad. The filming of the collections is in progress. The compilation and the publication of A Complete Collection of Paintings of the Yuan Dynasty is to be finished in 2013. The tables of contents and frameworks of A Complete Collection of Paintings from the Warring States Period to the Tang Dynasty, A Complete Collection of Paintings of the Ming Dynasty and A Complete Collection of Paintings of the Qing Dynasty are finished and the preparations for the compilation are in progress.
