Born in 1951, Xu Jun is a professor of linguistics specialized in translation.

Prof.Xu is an academic leader and famous translator in the field of translation in foreign language and literature discipline at home and abroad. He has made great achievements in the translation theory, exerting an important influence in domestic and foreign translation circles. Over the past 30 years, Prof.Xu has conducted extensive and in-depth studies on translation basics,translation criticism and translation culture and won several Outstanding Achievement Awards in Philosophy and Social Science Research by Ministry of Education and Jiangsu Province. His representative works include Literary Translation Criticism, Character, Literature, Culture—Chinese Translation of the Red and the Black, and About Translation.
