Power in International Relations: Taking Sino-US Relations as an example

  Power, as a core concept in politics and international relations, is a key feature of the social life. What is power? Who confers power? Who owns power? How can the rising national power adapt to the international community and global system so as to avert the conflicts and confusions in the international order? In this lecture, Professor Rosemary Foot, research fellow of British Academy and a well-known China expert from Oxford University, will expound on these issues with her expansive international scope and profound knowledge. About the Speaker:

  Rosemary Foot is a professor of international relations and senior research fellow of St Antony’s College of Oxford University. As a prestigious China expert, she was the visiting scholar to Renmin University of China and Harvard University, etc. She got her Ph. D from London School of Economics in 1977 and elected research fellow of British Academy. Her research covers international relations in Asian-Pacific region. In addition, her works include Order and Justice in International Relations, The Practice of Power: US Relations with China Since 1949, etc.
