Interdisciplinary Center for Social Sciences (ICSS) was founded on April 15, 2003, as an important platform, upon which Zhejiang University can make use of its comprehensive advantages in the multi-disciplines to carry out interdisciplinary research. In October, 2005 it has been listed as an major research orientation in the “Zhejiang University Language and Cognition Research”, the first group National Philosophy and Social Science Innovation Base (II type). Chairman of the academic council for the interdisciplinary centre is Professor Wang Dingding, and professor Ye Hang is the director. 

The Interdisciplinary center takes ”Li-Yi-Fen-Shu” as its tenet and arranges the essence of Chinese and Western academics in a comprehensive way. In the spirit of “Logos in Dialogue”, it pursues the moral foundation of market society and explores the innate mechanism for the deepening of the society. Since its foundation, the interdisciplinary center has made remarkable academic achievements. In recent years, research fellows in the center have published 20 high-quality essays in overseas academic journals. The “Interdisciplinary Social Science Translation Series” sponsored by the center have already published the first and second volumes with the Shanghai Publishing Group.
