Successful Completion of the Symposium: Population and Labor Market in Transformations of Economic Society

  The symposium of “Population and Labor Market in Transformations of Economic Society” was held on October 30-31, 2010 in Hangzhou jointly sponsored by Social Sciences Research Platform, ZJU and Chinese Journal of Population Science of Population and Labor Economy Research Institute at Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Research Center for Labor Security and Social Policy of ZJU, Research Institute of Population and Development, ZJU. The symposium attracted over 100 papers and 100-odd experts and scholars from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Renmin University of China, Fudan University, Zhongshan University, Wuhan University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, etc. Professor Luo Weidong, Vice President of ZJU was present at the symposium and addressed the opening ceremony.

  The experts and scholars on demography, labor economics and social security, viewing the establishment of a unified labor market to realize the coordinated development of population, economy and society based on transformations of economic society as  the aim, conducted in-depth discussions about “labor employment”, “population” and “social security”. Fifteen scholars made wonderful presentations and some distinguished scholars: Zheng Bingwen, Qu Zhenwu, Yao Xianguo, Huang Rongqing, Lai Desheng, Wang Guixin and Jin Xiaotao, Director-general of Personnel Department of National Population and Family Planning Commission of China were present at the symposium. Professor He Wenjion, Professor Guo Jiqiang, Professor Lu Wencong and Associate Professor Yao Yinmei delivered presentations of “Free Flowing of Labor Force and Integration of Social Insurance”, “A Review of Income Disparity Measurement and Decomposition Method”, “Non-agricultural labor employment of Concurrent Farmers: A Demonstration Based on Tobit Model and “Ratio of Population and Fostering: Deviation and Rectification of Theory and Practice” respectively, and their presentations were highly valued by other experts.
