For promoting the social sciences, expanding the international cooperations and accelerating the internationalization of social sciences, the delegation of social sciences, comprising of Yu Xunda, Director of Faculty of Social Sciences, Jia Shenghua, Deputy Director of the Faculty of Social Sciences and the leaders of other schools under the Faculty of Social Sciences, headed by Professor Zou Xiaodong, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee of Zhejiang University visited the London School of Economics (LSE), Cambridge University, University of Nottingham and University of Leeds.
LSE ranks first in social sciences in the UK and Europe. The talk between ZhejiangUniversity and LSE, represented by Mark Maloney, Head of Academic Partnerships, Professor Athar Hussain, Director of Asian Studies Center and professors and researchers from other departments, was mainly about conducting educational and academic cooperations. Professor Zou Xiaodong gave a brief introduction to ZhejiangUniversity, and Professor Yu Xunda outlined the cooperations between the Faculty of Social Sciences and Institute of Social Sciences, ZhejiangUniversity and LSE. During the talks, LSE introduced the studies related to the Chinese issues, especially the studies on the Chinese urbanization. LSE would like to sign the agreement with ZhejiangUniversity if the condition permits in the future.
During the visit to the Cambridge University, Professor Charles Jones from the Department of Politics and International Relations and Allen Swales in charge of Asian and Pacific affairs had talks with the delegation on two aspects: the school-running mechanism of combining school system and university system and the internationalized school-running way of the Cambridge University, which could improve and ensure the quality of the School and cultivate the best students in the world. After the talks, the delegation visited the TrinityCollege and the Queen’s College.

The University of Nottingham and the School of Economics, ZhejiangUniversity had excellent cooperations. Professor Yao Shujie, President of Contemporary Chinese Studies Institute, the University of Nottingham introduced the development and characteristics of the Institute to the delegation and the delegation also expressed their amazement at the rapid progress of the Institute in becoming the key center for studying Chinese issues and teaching. In addition, Professor Kevin Lee, President of School of Economics introduced the features of School of Economics and both sides agreed to run the Centre for Research on China and Global Economic Policy (CGEP) successfully and to conduct all-round strategic cooperations in the future.

During the visit to the University of Leeds, the delegation was divided into two groups: the group of economics and management and the group of law, education and politics and had talks with the representatives from the University of Leeds. In the talks with the group of economics and management, Professor Peter Moizer, President of School of Business and other professors from the School gave a brief introduction to the features of the School, in particular, the cooperations with ZhejiangUniversity. Professor Chen Ling also introduced the basic conditions and disciplinary development of the School of Management, ZhejiangUniversity. Both sides expressed their willingness to conduct further exchanges and studies in international business and entrepreneurships.

The representatives of both sides expressed their sincere wishes for conducting teaching and research cooperations.
The University of Leeds also invited the delegation of ZhejiangUniversity to visit the Stanley and AudreyBurtonArtGallery. Professor Vivian Jones, Vice President of the University of Leeds had a reception party ready for the Delegate. Professor Zou Xiaodong of ZhejiangUniversity conveyed his gratitude to the University of Leeds and conveyed his wishes for furthering cooperations in social sciences.
