The Ninth International Forum on Social Security Held in Zhejiang University
The Forum, with the theme of “maintaining sustainable development of social security” was successfully held in Zhejiang University on August 26, 2013. About 270 experts and scholars on social security from 188 academic institutions of China, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Britain, Holland, Australia and Canada were present and 8 distinguished scholars, including Uzuhashi Takafumi from Japan, Athar Hussain from Britain, Ulrich Becker from Germany, John Piggott from Australia, Anton Hemerijck from Holland and He Wenjiong of China and Guo Mingzheng of Taiwan, China delivered their keynote speeches.
The Forum, with 20 speeches and discussions, was organized into several themes: old-age security, medical security, social assistance, social welfare, old-age care, employment security, and comprehensive topics and youth round table. The students and teachers of Zhejiang University played an active role and showed excellent academic cultivation and quality research achievements.
The international forum, centered on East Asia, began to be held from 2004 under the concerted efforts of famous scholars on social security from China, Japan and South Korea. The forum, once held in Beijing, Seoul, Tokyo, Chengdu, Busan and Nagoya, has been a key annual conference on social security and a significant academic platform for equal academic dialogues in Asia, Europe and America.
