The Forum, an activity for the 2nd World Zhejiang Entrepreneurs Convention, hosted by Zhejiang University and organized by the Sci-Tech Academy, School of Management and Institute of World Zhejiang Entrepreneurs of Zhejiang University was held on October 27th 2013, with the theme of “Innovation and Development of Zhejiang Entrepreneurs”.

Zheng Jiwei, Vice Governor of Zhejiang Province and Jin Deshui, Secretary of Party Committee of Zhejiang University were present at and addressed the Forum. Mr. Mr. Zheng Jiwei said, as the pioneers of market economy, Zhejiang entrepreneurs have been promoting Chinese economy and the return of Zhejiang Entrepreneurs would certainly offer incentives to a new round of economic growth. Mr. Jin Deshui elaborated on the development of Zhejiang entrepreneurs and pointed out that reform and innovation constitute the driving force for them. In addition, over 200 famous entrepreneurs and scholars were present at the Forum.

In his keynote speech: “Technological Innovation and Development of Zhejiang Entrepreneurs”, Professor Wu Zhaohui, Managing Vice President of Zhejiang University expounded the technological innovation, integration of industry, academy and research, scientific orientation and technological promotion of Zhejiang University. Professor Chen Ling, Vice President of School of Management and Executive President of the Institute of World Zhejiang Entrepreneurs of Zhejiang University, stressed the importance of transformation and upgrading of Zhejiang Entrepreneurs to seek development based on innovation in his keynote speech and he expressed that School of Management at Zhejiang University would explore deeper into Zhejiang Entrepreneurs and serve them.

Besides, Dr. Chen Zongnian, President of Hikvision and Wang Licheng, President of Holly Group delivered keynote speeches on innovation and entrepreneurship of Zhejiang Entrepreneurs. Mr. Chen Zongnian analyzed the development opportunities of Hikvision through innovation by saying, “Only through the construction and perfection of inner corporate entrepreneurship system and the collaboration between sub-systems can an enterprise realize sustainable development”. Mr. Wang Licheng said the only channel for corporate upgrading would be innovation and there would be risks in innovation; however, he held the corporate can achieve innovation in various ways, e.g. business modes and profit modes to alleviate the capital shortage caused by technological innovation.

In addition, the Institute of World Zhejiang Entrepreneurs of Zhejiang University issued “2013 World Zhejiang Entrepreneurs Development Report”, covering the status quo, growth mode, inheritance, innovation and internationalization of Zhejiang entrepreneurs all over the world, which reflected the research achievements of Zhejiang University in recent years.

Moreover, some key national libraries of Zhejiang University, e.g. bio-medicine, information engineering and equipment manufacturing were open to entrepreneurs, scholars and specialists and they exchanged views on scientific achievements and development of their particular fields.
