As the key research institute of philosophy and social sciences in Zhejiang Province, Center of Social Welfare and Governance, Zhejiang University (SWG) lays stress on basic theory research. It sets up three research directions, which are labor economics and labor relations, social security and risk management, and public governance and innovation.

Responding to nationally major strategies of protecting and improving the people’s livelihood, and upgrading the country’s governance systems and capabilities, Center of Social Welfare and Governance drives basic theory study, academic innovation, talent cultivation and construction of the supporting system, which are in according with the transition of the traditional public administration to public management. Besides, SWG strives to strengthen its leadership position, precisely, the top 3% of China, in labor economics, social security and public management for becoming a distinguished and recognized research institute with international influence.
