【Lecture】School of Data Science and Management Engineering Academic Lecture No. 91: Making Research Relevant Again Under the Upcoming Digital Economy

Speaker Introduction】:Zhiqiang (Eric) Zheng is the Ashbel Smith Professor of Information Systems with a joint appointment in Finance at the School of Management, University of Texas at Dallas. He received his PhD from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. His current research interests focus on Information Management, financial technology, Blockchain analytics and healthcare analytics. His papers have appeared in journals such as Management Science, MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, and Production and Operations Management, and INFORMS Journal on Computing. He currently serves as a senior editor for Information Systems Research and POM, as an associate editor of MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research and INFORMS Journal on Computing, and is the editor for the Fintech and Blockchain special issue. He also founded and Chaired the 1st INFROMS Workshop on Data Science.

 

Lecture Abstract】:It is not a far stretch to see that the business world is entering into the Digital Economy era. Digital innovations are transforming all the functional areas of business, from marketing, management, operations, accounting to finance. What is relevant business research should change accordingly. Professor Eric Zheng will share his insights on how to make research relevant again under the upcoming digital economy. He will also discuss several of his latest work on Fintech, Blockchain and HRtech.
