Among the first institutes in conferring doctor’s degrees, it was approved as one of the first state key disciplines in 1988. The first national laboratory in psychology in China (National Professional Laboratory of Industrial Psychology of Zhejiang University) and a cultivation base for national talents of sciences were set up. It was approved as the state key discipline by Ministry of Education in 2007.
Initiated by Mr. Chen Li, father of industrial psychology in China, the discipline enjoys a long history with profound academic heritage. An academic team made up of mainly young and middle-aged backbones has been formed after efforts of several generations. At present, it has 12 professors (9 are doctor’s supervisors) and 9 associate professors.
Over the years, the discipline has had a great scale in research and talent cultivation and distinctive features in intelligent human-machine interactions, psychology of aerospace engineering projects, management psychology and human resource development and scored brilliance in the fundamental researches of applied psychology.
