Humanities and Social Sciences of Zhejiang University is originated from related disciplines in Qiushi Academy and Hangchow Presbyterian College which were founded in 1897. Through hard development for 120 years, Zhejiang University has cultivated a large number of talents with excellent wisdom in philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, management, art and other disciplines for the progress of human thoughts and civilizations. Till now, it has over 901 professors in humanities and social science.
In recent years, adhering to developing strategies of “connection between the past and the present, interaction between the East and the West, communication between China and foreign countries, and integration among different disciplines”, Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences targets for interdisciplinary studies, academic innovations, connotative developments and quality improvements. Based on national and regional strategic needs, it strives to build high level innovation resources, talent pools and think tanks and to continuously enhance the overall strength of humanities and social sciences, providing ideological contributions and theoretical supports for the “double first-class” construction of Zhejiang University, the prosperity of humanities and social sciences with Chinese characteristics and the achievement of rejuvenation of China.
