It is among the first institutes in conferring master’s degrees in China. In 1986, it got the right to confer doctor’s degrees and was approved the state key discipline by Ministry of Education in 2007.
Initiated by Mr. Chen Xuexun, a distinguished expert in the history of education in China, the discipline enjoys a long history with profound academic heritage. An academic echelon made up of mainly young and middle-aged backbones has been formed after efforts of several generations. At present, it has 10 professors, 2 associate professors, and 7 members have doctor’s degrees.
Over the years, the discipline has formed excellent features in history of Chinese education modernization, history of Sino-foreign cultural communication, history of Chinese higher education and history of modern foreign education and is acknowledged as the key base for scientific research and talent cultivation in history of education in China and abroad.
