A Research on Mattew Ricci’s Maps of the World

  A Research on Mattew Ricci’s Maps of the World systematically summarizes the research fruits on Mattew Ricci’s maps of the world in over a century at home and abroad and collects Mattew Ricci’s maps of the world published by different countries and examines three material sources for the maps for the first time. In addition, it classifies the prefaces, epilogues and inscriptions for the first time and “searching of place names” of over 1000 places in original maps are listed. In all, it examines in depth the influence of Mattew Ricci’s maps of the world in China, Japan and Korea. It won The Third Prize in History of Excellent Achievements Awards of the 4^th Research on Humanities and Social Sciences of Chinese Institutions of Higher Learning.
