Chinese Prosodics, the first monograph on Chinese prosodics, mainly talks about the Chinese prosodic features of syllables, feet, breath groups, sentences, sense groups, paragraphs and passages and their combinational rules. The innovative points are as follows. First, it is more scientific to change “tingdun (pause)” to “tingyan (stop-delay)” and the Chinese stop-delay rules are found. Second, Chinese rhythm rules and major melody of rhythms, and Chinese sentence combination models are discovered. Thirdly, “Nine-square Model Matrix” is raised and the rhythm symbols designed can be used to make “language compositions” for works. It won The Third Prize in Linguistics of Excellent Achievements Awards of the 4th Research on Humanities and Social Sciences of Chinese Institutions of Higher Learning.
