Art Criticism of the 20th Century

  Art Criticism of the 20^th Century, taking three key terms of modernism, avantgarde art and postmodernism as the warp, 10 famous Western art critics of the 20^th century as the weft, makes a comprehensive classification and explanation of the key theories, methods and problems of modern art criticism in the West in the Chinese context. Based on the modernistic philosophical traditions of Kant, Max Weber and Jurgen Habermas, the book raises an expanded modernistic concept and demonstrates the idea of “limitless modernism”, meanwhile, it criticizes the anti-rationalism in intellectuality, cynicism in modernity and hedonism in sensibility of postmodernism. It won The Second Prize in Art Theory of Excellent Achievements Awards of the 4^th Research on Humanities and Social Sciences of Chinese Institutions of Higher Learning.
