Recently, Quacquarelli Symonds, a global higher education research institute, officially released the 2019 QS World University Rankings by subject. Economics& Econometrics, Accounting& Finance, two major disciplines of Zhejiang University, place among the Top 100 in the world discipline rankings by subject. It makes Zhejiang University become one of the five universities in the mainland China which get into the top 100 in the world discipline ranking list.

QS  is viewed as one of the three most widely known university ranking list in the world, along with Academic Ranking of World Universities and Times Higher Education World University Rankings, with strong credibility and representativeness. As the discipline ranking of Business and Economics released by The Times Higher Education World University Rankings in September last year, Zhejiang University ranked No.3 in Mainland China and No.54 in the world. It can be seen that the construction of “double first-class” has achieved remarkable results.

The QS has been publishing world university discipline rankings annually since 2011. The ranking is mainly concerned with four indicators: academic peer review, employer review, citations per faculty, and H-index (high citation index calculated by using data of the whole scientists of a university). It has attracted much attention in the educational circles and is an important indicator to measure the teaching and scientific research of colleges and universities.
