Center for Studies of the Song Dynasty, Zhejiang University
Established in 2002, Center for Studies of the Song Dynasty, Zhejiang University is a key institute on humanities of ZJU and became a key research base on philosophy and social sciences of Zhejiang Province in 2006. It has gathered strongest researchers interested in studies of the Song Dynasty from Department of Chinese Language, Department of History, Department of Philosophy, Institute of Ancient Books and other traditional predominant disciplines of Zhejiang University, in order to fully investigate the Song School and promote its spirits. It exerts a big influence on studies of imperial examination system in the Song Dynasty, Neo-Confucianism, the history of studies on Confucian classics and history of Confucian thought, literature of the Song Dynasty, and Buddhist and Taoist culture. Center for Studies of Song Dynasty is the only academic center at home and abroad featured by comprehensive studies of the Song Dynasty, with forefront research strength in academic circles.
Center for Studies of the Song Dynasty owns a wide and strong research team of 10 professors, 1 associate professor and 2 lecturers. Among 13 members, there are 1 special expert of Zhejiang Province and 1 Qiushi Distinguished Professor of Zhejiang University. It has presided over more than 20 major, key and general projects of National Social Science Fund and Humanities and Social Sciences of Ministry of Education. Its self-built Library on Studies of the Song Dynasty has established a wide range of exchanges and cooperation with related scholars at home and abroad.
