Center for Local Government Studies, Zhejiang University (CLGS) is one of the initial key research bases on philosophy and social sciences of Zhejiang Province which was established in 2006. Relying on research teams and resources of politics, sociology, rural social history and foreign political philosophy, it studies transformation of Chinese rural areas and functions as disciplinary researches, governmental governance researches and personnel training.
CLGS emphasizes researches on basic theories, personnel training and foreign academic exchanges. Since 2011, researches on basic theories which are closely related to national long-term development, such as Research on Government Regulation in Social Cconstruction and Research on Innovation of Effective Operation of System of People’s Congress, have won key project funding of National Social Science Planning. It also sponsored and co-organized International Conference on Consultative Participation Mechanism and Chinese Grassroots Governance, International Conference on Community Development and Chinese Practice, Eleventh Workshop of Empirical Research for Organizational Sociology and other international and domestic academic exchanges.
