Research Center for History of Chinese Language, Zhejiang University is a key research base on humanities and social sciences in universities of Ministry of Education. It relies on the provincial key discipline of Chinese language and philology, the national key discipline of Chinese classical philology and the primary discipline doctoral unit of Chinese language and literature, exerting a big influence on medieval Chinese, modern Chinese and exegesis.

Director is Prof. Fang Yixin, three deputy directors are Prof. Zhang Yongquan, Prof. Wang Yunlu and Prof. Wang Weihui. Representative works includeA Collection of Dunhuang Literature, History of Medieval Chinese Vocabulary, Medieval Modern Chinese Lexicology andResearch on Lexicon and Grammar in Important Arts forthe People's Welfare.Journal of Chinese History is selected into the journal source of Chinese Social Science Citation Index (CSSCI), full text collection of Chinese Academic Journal (CD-ROM version), collection of Renmin University of China Copy of Newspapers and Periodicals and collection of Wanfang data. Research Center for History of Chinese Language has 10 professors and 5 associate professors and enrolls masters and doctors in Chinese language and philology, Chinese classical philology and linguistics and applied linguistics every year.
