Established in September 2005, Center for Regional Economic Opening and Development, Zhejiang University (REOD) is one of the initial key research bases on philosophy and social sciences in Zhejiang Province. It mainly focuses on regional economic opening and development, the major theoretical and practical issue in the economic and social development in Zhejiang Province and China. Its research interests cover three aspects: innovation on the mode of regional economic opening and development, regional economic transformation and upgrading, and regional financial innovation and development, all of which are major new frontier issues in China’s economy urgent to be studied.
Since its foundation, researchers of REOD have published 41 books and 72 papers in domestic authoritative journals and international SSCI journals, received 15 comments from provincial, ministerial and central leaders, and won 27 provincial, ministerial and national awards. These achievements have profound influence and obvious practical significance to the theoretical innovation of regional opening economy, and the transformation of growth pattern, innovation of development mode, improvement of operational efficiency and promotion of international competitiveness of Zhejiang economy.
