Zhejiang University Center for Buddhist Art

Zhejiang University Center for Buddhist Art was established on September 25, 2014, whose director is Prof. Xie Jisheng. Its research fields include Chinese Buddhist art, Tibetan Buddhist art and the Tibetan Buddhist art influenced by Han culture.

 

It emphasizes studies on Sino-Tibetan and multinational art history from the historical concept that Chinese civilization history should be created by multiple nations. Research Center for Sino-Tibetan Buddhist Art has established a database of Sino-Tibetan Buddhist art based on field investigation and multi-party cooperation, organized international conferences on Tibetan archaeology and art, and founded the International Society of Tibetan Archaeology and Art Studies.

 

It enrolls masters, doctors and postdoctoral scholars of Sino-Tibetan Buddhist art, sets up courses of History of Tibetan Art, Studies on Sino-Tibetan Buddhist Art and Selected Works of Tibetan Art History and published annals of Sino-Tibetan Buddhist Art Studies and a collection of Sino-Tibetan Buddhist art studies. Its researchers have undertaken or participated in three major projects of National Social Science Fund, two entrusted projects of National Social Science Fund and one major provincial and ministerial project.
