An Academic Delegation, Led by Vice President Luo Weidong Conducting a Visit to Taiwan
An academic delegation, comprising of Professor Luo Weidong, Vice President of Zhejiang University, Professor Zhu Xinli, Executive Vice President of the Guanghua Law School, Hu Wei, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Guanghua Law School, Wang Guanxi, Vice President of the Guanghua Law School, Jin Xiaoming, Deputy Director at the Department of Art, the School of Humanities, etc. visited Taiwan from 16th to 19th December. The Delegation visited the Taibei Palace Museum, Taiwan Chinese Cultural University, Taiwan University, National Chengchi University and some important persons, e.g Professor Wang Zejian, former Grand Justice of Taiwan Judicial Yuan and pioneer of the contemporary civil law across the Taiwan Strait.
In Taiwan Chinese Cultural University, the delegation was warmly welcome by the Board Director Zhang Jinghu, President Wu Wanyi and leaders of some offices. Chinese Cultural University, a comprehensive private university, was founded by Mr. Zhang Qiyun, father of Zhang Jinghua in 1952. Mr. Zhang Qiyun, a famous geographer and historian, was the founder of the Department of History and Geography, Zhejiang University. President Zhang Jinghu was also an alumnus of Zhejiang University. He made great achievements in the researches on world energy.
After the welcome speech by Board Director Zhang Jinghu, Jin Ronghua, member of the Board introduced the compilation of The Grand Chinese Dictionary. Then Vice President Luo Weidong expressed the three missions of this delegation: sending Mr. Zhang Jinghu the image data of the launch activities of the new English book: The Contemporary Interpretation of Confucianism by Mr. Zhang Qiyun, the discussions on the republication of The Grand Chinese Dictionary and the search for the new projects integrating the law and art studies to contribute to the cultural exchanges across the Taiwan Strait.
President Xie Mingyang, Professor Wang Zejian, Professor Zhan Senlin, Professor Ge Kechang and Professor Chen Congfu of the School of Law, Taiwan University gave a warm welcome to the delegation. President Xie Mingyuan and Professor Zhu Xinli both looked back on the exchanges of two schools in recent years. Vice President Luo Weidong said that Zhejiang University should learn from the School of Law, Taiwan University since it is of great benefit to Zhejiang University to contribute to the legal construction in the market economy. Luo Weidong gave a formal invitation to President Xie to Zhejiang University.
President Guo Mingzheng of the School of Law, Taiwan Chengchi University gave a warm welcome to the delegation too. It has already conducted frequent exchanges and cooperations with the Guanghua Law School, Zhejiang University in recent years, so the meeting was just like between two friends. In the end, two sides emphasized the importance and necessity of further cooperation.
President Luo Weidong and Deputy Director Jin Xiaoming visited the Taibei Palace Museum and exchanged their views on the cooperations in the field of art with the Curator and Deputy Curator of the Museum.
Besides, the Delegation was invited to the family dinner of Professor Wang Zejian and Vice President Luo Weidong invited Professor Wang Zejian to give lectures to students at the Guanghua Law School, Zhejiang University in the spring of 2013.
Moreover, the Delegation had talks with Lu Guowen, alumnus of Zhejiang University in Taiwan and Lu Guowen talked about the achievements the Alumnus Association made in recent years.
The Delegation also met Xie Yingshi, Secretary of Guanghua Education Foundation and discussed the future work of the management committee of professor committee of Guanghua Law School.
This visit to Taiwan promoted the exchanges and cooperations between Zhejiang University and famous universities and cultural organizations in Taiwan and advanced the cultural relations across the Taiwan Strait.
