“The 4th Paddy Rice Industrial Economic Forum and Symposium on Food Safety” hosted by Paddy Rice Industrial Economic Research Office of the National Modern Agriculture Industrial Technological System and “985 Third-phase” modern agriculture project team of Research Institute for Chinese Agriculture Development, ZhejiangUniversity was held on 29th December 2012. Over 50 experts, scholars and producers from the Carter Center of Zhejiang University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Paddy Rice Research Institute, Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Science, Zhejiang Academy of Social Sciences, Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Guizhou University, Yangzhou University and Research Office of Mechanization at the National Paddy Rice Industrial Technological System discussed in depth the paddy rice industrial economy and food safety as well as the latest research achievements. Experts from Jinhua and Jiaxing on agricultural technology reported the paddy rice technological economy and existing problems in 2012. Typical Food Professional Cooperative introduced the experience and problems in the operation and management of the cooperative in 2012. The participants finally reached a consensus that the strategic objective for our food safety in the new period is to ensure the safety of the staple food and the healthy development of paddy rice industrial economy constitutes the foundation.
