29 Awards Won by Zhejiang University Ranking Fourth in 6th University Research Excellent Achievement Awards of Ministry of Education
The 6th University Research Excellent Achievement Awards (humanities and social sciences) of Ministry of Education, the PRC were publicly announced, including 45 first-grade awards, 250 second-grade awards, 518 third-grade awards and 17 popularity awards, amounting to 830 awards in total. Zhejiang University, ranking fourth among the universities in China with 1 first-grade award, 8 second-grade, 19 third-grade and 1 popularity award, totaling 29.
The first-grade award went to “The Growing Chinese Civil Society in Participation: Based on Studies on Zhejiang Wenzhou Chamber of Commerce” by Yu Jianxing, Jiang Hua and Zhou Jun; the second-grade awards went to “A History of Medieval Chinese Lexicon” by Wang Yunlu, etc.; the third-grade went to “Stoicism I, II” by Zhang Xuefu and Shi Minmin, etc. The popularity award went to “Figures Beyond Reach: A Galaxy of Shining Stars in the Sky of Mathematics” by Cai Tianxin, which is the first honor by Zhejiang University since the beginning of the popularity award.
Statistically, 8 awards went to School of Humanities, 5 awards went to School of Management and College of Public Administration, 4 awards went to College of Media and International Culture, 3 went to School of Education, 2 went to School of Economics, 1 went to School of International Studies and 1 went to School of Science.
University Research Excellent Achievement Awards (humanities and social sciences), one of the highest research awards selected every three years in humanities and social sciences in China at present, are key awards granted by Ministry of Education, the PRC. The Awards this time cover the books, papers and research and consulting reports from 1st January, 2008 to 31st December 2010. In addition, Peking University, Wuhan University and Renmin University of China are among the top three.
