On 7th May, the ceremony for the establishment of “Liberal Arts Experimental Education Base for Journalism and Communication Majors by ZhejiangUniversity and Zhejiang Radio and Television Group” and for the appointment of supervisors was held in College of Media and International Culture, ZhejiangUniversity. It is the first national experimental base for liberal arts education and for journalism and communication majors in ZhejiangProvince; therefore, it is highly recognized by both parties concerned.
Jin Deshui, Secretary of Zhejiang University Party Committee pointed out that it is a “win-win and mutual benefit” cooperation. The university has to integrate school education and off-campus experiments to cultivate the elites of times. He expressed his hopes that, with the construction of the Base as an opportunity, a joint cultivation model by the university and media would be created to explore the new channel and new mechanism for developing the capabilities and innovativeness of students. Therefore, the Base should be built into a national exemplary liberal arts experimental one with standardized operation, complete function and sustainable development. Luo Weidong, Vice President of Zhejiang University put forward the idea of “Three Ready”—“Planning Ready, Resource Ready and Mechanism Ready”, which would make an experimental base with real effect and unique features. Dong Chuanliang, Vice Editor-in-Chief of Zhejiang Radio & Television Group, conveyed his welcome to the students of ZhejiangUniversity to contribute wisdom to Zhejiang radio and television industry.
A “Dual Supervisor System” will be adopted in the Experimental Base made up of Major Advisory Committee and Business Panel and consisting of eight professional workshops: on-camera interviews and reporting work, etc.
