To implement the essence of the Sixth Plenary Session of 17th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, to develop philosophy and social sciences, Zhejiang University issued “Zhejiang University CPC Committee’s Suggestions on Developing and Prospering Philosophy and Social Sciences in Zhejiang University” in September 2012 to devise the orientation and methods for humanities and social sciences, and listed “Active participation in the Studies and Construction of Marxist Theories” as one of the major tasks. The Program, centered on deepening the theories and practices of Chinese road and Zhejiang experience, will be financed 1 million RMB and treated as a key program.

To safeguard the quality of the Program, Academy of Social Sciences of Zhejiang University mapped out its management and standardized its management at the provincial level.

Twenty-two scholars from 9 schools applied for the Program and those applications were examined by the experts from Zhejiang Federation of Social Science, Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee School and Zhejiang University. In addition, the applicants expressed the value and feasibility of the applications in oral defense. Finally, 12 projects were approved and financed 0.1 million each.

With this Program, several books of high standard will be published, thus the image and influence of Zhejiang University’s studies on Marxist theories and Socialism with Chinese features will be forged.
