On November 28th 2015, the ceremony for establishing Textbook Research Center, Zhejiang University and the signing of the Project of Organizing the Textbooks during the Republic of China was held in Zhejiang University. Professor YU Kehong, Vice Dean of College of Education, Zhejiang University chaired the ceremony. Professor LUO Weidong, Vice President of Zhejiang University inaugurated the Center and said that textbooks play a significant role in shaping civil values and constructing knowledge systems, so they are essential resources for studying modern Chinese culture and education as well as for academic research, national reading and reference materials for textbooks.

Professor LIU Zhengwei, Director of the Center outlined the ideas, i.e. organizing and studying the textbooks of major subjects, Chinese, Citizen, History, Geography, English and Comprehensive Course, of elementary and middles schools during the Republic of China to reconstruct national and state memory during that period and finally set up Chinese Textbook Research Center.

Textbook Research Center, Zhejiang University signed the cooperative agreement with Shanghai Lexicographical Publishing House and several professors: TIAN Zhengping, LIU Li, SHENG Qunli, LIU Zhengwei, SHANG Lihao, WU Zongjie, were engaged by the Publishing House to be editors-in-chief for related subjects of the Project.
