Symposium on “Life Philosophy and Modern Human Existence”
On May 28th and 29th, Department of Philosophy of Zhejiang University, Editorial Department of Philosophical Analysis and Asia Pacific Center for the Study of Leisure, Zhejiang University co-organized a symposium on “Life Philosophy and Modern Human Existence”, attracting more than 80 scholars from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Tsinghua University, Nanjing University, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Fudan University, East China Normal University, Tongji University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang University, Sun Yat-sen University, National Sun Yat-sen University in Taiwan and Huaqiao University. Professor LUO Weidong, Vice President of Zhejiang University and Professor HE Xirong, Deputy Director of Institute of Philosophy, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences addressed the opening ceremony.
Thirty-one scholars delivered keynote speeches on abundant interpretations of “life philosophy” from political philosophy, Marxist philosophy, Phenomenology, classical philosophy, Chinese philosophy, aesthetics and leisure studies, etc. Those speeches highlighted the major visions and targets of the Symposium, that is to make philosophy, instead of being more and more specialized, return to human beings and life themselves so as to give new meaning to philosophy in this age of technology.
