International Conference on “Asia and Americas: Transpacific Connections and Comparisons of Societies, Histories, and Cultures”
From June 12 to 15, the Conference, organized by Dept. of History at Faculty of Humanities, Zhejiang University; the CAPI at University of Victoria, and Asian Research Center at Zhejiang University, was held in Zhejiang University. Those who addressed the opening ceremony included Professor LUO Weidong, Vice President of Zhejiang University; Professor HUANG Huaxin, Dean, Professor LU Yimin, Deputy Dean of School of Humanities, Zhejiang University and Andrew Marton, Director of the CAPI at University of Victoria in Canada. Over 50 scholars from domestic and foreign universities and research institutions, such as Victoria University, Brock University in Canada, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Nankai University, Nanjing University, Xiamen University and Zhejiang University carried out in-depth exchanges and discussions on “The studies on the Asian and American transportation, migration, trade, foreign affairs, wars and culture forms” and “The comparisons on transpacific social, economic, political, ideological, religious and language characteristics”.
