Main goal

      Bringing ZU’s Centre for European Studies to a level of excellence so as to make it a leading Chinese academic institution in European studies , both within China and abroad.

Rationale

      Such Centre , through its location in ZJ Province, a place with a dynamic  regional leadership, a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a prestigious academic tradition, would, with the strong support from the Ministry of Education, the Provincial Government and local entrepreneurs 

     a) contribute to the building up by China and the EU of a close and risk-shared partnership , through securing a better  knowledge and deeper  understanding of the complex and diverse European reality;

    b) promote Sino-European interdisciplinary  interchange and cooperation inside and outside Zhejiang University.

    c) develop an effective European network both at academic and business level with the view of building up strong and intense connections with the ZJ business, society and academic community.

    d) exert an impact on the policy-making process in China through policy related research drawing on an high-level expertise of European matters and on a deep knowledge of ZJ strong private-sector economy.
