Center for Women’s Research, Zhejiang University
Center for Women’s Research, Zhejiang University is one of the earliest domestic centers for women’s research in universities and colleges and academic organization on interdisciplinary women’s research. Relying on comprehensive disciplines of Zhejiang University, it aims to improve the status of women’s research in academia by expanding the field of women’s research and exploring its research methods. It also focuses on the process of women’s development and serves women’s actual needs with women theory. Giving related lectures on women’s research and participating women's education in the whole society by multi-channels, Center for Women’s Research is devoted to the basic construction of women’s research discipline. In March 2004, it won the title of “National March 8th Red Flag Community”.
Historical Origins:
In 1989, the original Center for Women’s Research, Hangzhou University was established, whose director was Tong Shaosu.
In 1995, the original Center for Women’s Research, Zhejiang University was established, whose director was Wang Yuzhi.
In 1998, the new Center for Women’s Research, Zhejiang University was established on the basis of the above two centers after the merger of four universities, whose director was Tong Shaosu.
Since July 2014, Wu Jian has served as director of the center.
