教育部语用所研究员冯志伟来外院学院作学术讲座

应外语学院应用语言学研究所的邀请，教育部语用所冯志伟研究员于10月25日、26日下午在我院作了两场计算语言学讲座，题目分别是：“机器翻译的历史和现状”、“格语法与框架网络”。
冯志伟研究员通过各种有趣生动的事例形象生动地讲述了什么是机器翻译、机器翻译发展的曲折道路、从格语法到框架网络的发展历程以及应用价值等问题。冯志伟研究员的讲座不仅吸引了本院的教师们，而且还吸引了许多人文学院的听众。
冯志伟研究员是北京大学语言学硕士、中国科技大学信息科学机器翻译硕士。曾先后在法国、德国、韩国等国的多所院校担任客座教授、技术顾问等职。现为国家教育部语言文字应用研究所研究员、北京大学、浙江大学、北京师范大学、中国传媒大学、黑龙江大学兼职教授。学术研究涉及：机器翻译；计算语言学；自然语言处理；数理语言学；术语学研究；应用语言学；语言学理论；语料库语言学等。

Prof. Zhiwei Feng from Ministry of Education Gave Lectures in School of International Studies
Upon the invitation from the Institute of Applied Linguistics, School of International Studies, Prof. Zhiwei Feng gave two lectures on the afternoon of Oct. 25 and 26 in 2007. The topics of the lectures are: 1) History and Current Status of Machine Translation. 2) Case Grammar and the Frame Net.
Using videos, photos, charts and tables, Prof. Zhiwei Feng elaborated on what is machine translation, how the machine translation develops, how the fame net evolves from case grammar, and its implications for machine translation. His lectures captured the attention of the audiences not only from the School of International Studies but also from School of Humanities.
Prof. Zhiwei Feng has two master’s degrees, one in linguistics from Peking University and the other in information science from China University of Science and Technology. He has been visiting professor and consultant in several distinguished universities in France, Germany, South Korea and etc. At present he is a researcher at the Institute of Applied Linguistics, Ministry of Education and concurrent professor at Peking University, Zhejinag University, Beijing Normal University, Communication University of China and Heilongjiang University.
Prof. Zhiwei Feng’s academic interests range over a variety of areas such as machine translation, computational linguistics, natural language processing, the study of terminology, applied linguistics, linguistic theory and corpus linguistics.
